The
session 3 of the submit on march 3 started with the discussion on sustainable development and disaster management under the moderator Dr Binay kumar pattanaik.the
session 3 mainly included topics on governance and science and technology.the discussion
focused on the issues like low carbon development in which a case was included
for bhopal’s transport sector and electricity generation towards low carbon
development,artisanal small scale gold mining and drought forecasting in the
brahmani river in India.
The second panel in this session covered topics on adaptation and change
vulnerability which included climate induced migration from bangaladesh to India,international law for nature conservation and adaptation of biodiversity
to climate change and adaptation strategies to mitigate implications of climate
change in river basins.
Panel 3 also included paper presentations
under moderator Tuomas yla-Anttila which thrown a light on community
empowerment,emergence of green factories in India and understanding link
between poverty and natural resource.
In the keynote by moderator Richard York
,the papers in this panel threw the light on “can asian transitions be green?a
possible role for sustainability experiments”,”rationale for resource
efficiency in india” and “the bishnois:ecologists since the 25th
century”.
